How VFS works

Think of it as 'biology' rather than 'chemistry'. The secret of its success is that the 100% organic microbial formula works with Mother Nature to trigger natural processes in the soil.

Rather like the friendly bacteria in yoghurt that support the body's natural immune system, the beneficial soil micro-organisms in this carefully balanced formula help create a healthier, nutrient-rich environment in which plants can thrive.

All living organisms need nitrogen to grow and reproduce. In the natural world, nitrogen is cycled between the atmosphere, soil and water. Air contains 78% nitrogen but it's in a form that cannot be readily used by plants or animals unless it's broken down by a process called 'nitrogen fixing'.

That's where the beneficial bacteria in VFS comes in. VFS contains native
nitrogen fixing bacteria that speeds up the natural decomposition process within the soil, using the energy from decaying natural matter to convert organic nitrogen into inorganic forms (nitrites and nitrates) that plants can take up through their roots. It's the same biological process that generates the heat in compost heaps - which is why VFS can also be used successfully as an organic compost activator to speed up compost making.
